Ground Flax Seed

The “miracle” seed that should be consumed every day is high in fiber, lignans, and omega 3 fatty acids. They are also a great source of iron, zinc, copper, calcium, protein, potassium, magnesium, and folate. While whole flax seed still contains insoluble fiber, it does not offer all the benefits of its ground counterpart.

Some of its many benefits include:

  • Improve digestive health, including reduce inflammation and constipation

  • Lower LDL and Total Cholesterol

  • Aid in weight loss

  • Prevent and improve survival of breast cancer

  • Improve prostate cancer survival

  • Lower blood sugar

Tips for adding ground flax into your diet:

  • Add 1 Tb to smoothies, yogurt parfaits or oatmeal.

  • Use 1 Tb mixed with 2 Tb water as an egg substitute in baked goods or pancakes.

  • Mix 1-3 tsp into pasta sauces or casseroles.
